Hi yet another question gotta love this site

ok well my logitech WebCam isnt working when i try to use it for Amsn or any other app that uses web cam ... im running it through a 7 port usb hub ( lexam ) it says it cant be detected and my light is turned on the web cam at all time like im using it normally .. yet im not .. its on the whole time im on ubuntu it works fine on windows 7 so i know its not my cam its self or the hub ... does anyone have any idea why this isnt working ??

I personally have about 4 webcams and only 1 works well, my Logitech doesnt work correctly...because it is like 5 years old...

How old is your Logitech webcam?

Have you tested it in Cheese?

aMSN is unreliable for Webcams

I use Emesene for MSN Webcam chats

Can you try to unplug the hub and connect it directly just to isolate out that possible issue...

Do you have any other webcams laying around you could test it with?

I'm not sure how external devices are referenced in amsn, since I've never used it. But you might want to run lsusb and use the output from that to point amsn to your camera.

i think my cam is about 3 yrs old .. i might just go buy a new one next week what kind would u recommend ? and i dont know what cheese is
