Were there no Fedora user here? If so then well, you've got one now!! Feel free to ask me about Fedora and I'll try my best.

I guess a throw in a few things about Fedora first.

My guess is that many users here are *buntu users by looking at the forums, but correct me if I am wrong!! Anyway, Ubuntu's mission statement is something about creating an alternative to MS Windows using free open source software, and their #1 bug is Windows dominance of the OS market!! That's right you can actually go to lauchpad and check it out!! And they are to fix it!!

So how's Fedora different from Ubuntu? Well Fedora's goal is quite different, it is something about showcasing the latest open source software based on Linux in a distro, so they are not really trying to compete with MS, but rather providing a package of bleeding edge software for open source enthusiast.

I have seen using different distros for years as well as other Unix-ly OS like BSD and Solaris, OSX, so I am pretty comfortable with general Unix stuff. Fedora seem to provide me with the most of what I want so far, so that's why I am currently using it now. Oh and I was always fond with their blue theme, it is my favourite colour!!

Hope that provides a quick and dirty introduction of Fedora for you if you didn't already knew about it!!

Glad you liked it! You probably know Fedora more than I do then! I only have been using it at home and a bit of CentOS in at work.

i installed fedora 12 in a virtual machine a few weeks ago,and it runs quite nice and fast, unlike suse11.2 which i found a bit slow, and a slow loader.

After hearing about your enthusiasm for Fedora, I think I might give this a go. I used to play around with it while preparing for LPIC...but that was quite a while ago.

Good idea actually. I've been thinking about the same thing concerning Ubuntu. Problem is, I tend to do distro-hopping from time to time. I always come back to Ubuntu (or a variant), but I'm just not that die-hard about it.

I contacted Canonical awhile ago and got OSGUI into their first level business partnership as a support company listed in their Marketplace. By you guys been members on this site that kinda makes you a voluntary employee of OSGUI and thus a partner of Canonical.

By hosting your videos on YouTube we are all already also partners with Google.

If you do not qualify for the full partner programme, the Ubuntu Marketplace is the ideal place to register if you are starting an Ubuntu based business and it may be more suited to your current requirements. Listing in the Marketplace is free to all businesses and individuals who are working with Ubuntu, whether they are providing local support to their clients, or providing large scale consultancy across regions and countries.

I am in Australia so OSGUI is listed here: webapps.ubuntu.com/marketplace/oceania/

I would like to expand OSGUI into a real life business place and sell computers with Ubuntu on them one-day... Entry into the Marketplace is the first level, any level higher than that is not yet needed for this sites services and also requires a large donation of money to Canonical.

Yeah it's not exactly prominent, but hey, every link from a bigger site to this one brings up our Google Search Engine Ranking and in-turn helps OSGUI succeed.

Since you cover Ubuntu news in your videos I recommend you apply for this free first level partnership to have your website listed in their marketplace too...
