the mint dev team added a bunch of their own custom apps
like;
- menu - gives vista menu features search to gnome
- domain blocker
- welcome box - pdf documentation
- some other stuff...
it also includes all the codecs and extra bits in the restricted extras like flash and java out of the box, and a few of the other apps are different choices like Thunderbird for email.
its very good to give to Linux newbies switching from windows
